I get why people voted for Trump …. BUT he did not get my vote because he did not have a health plan solution to the Affordable Care Act

I have voted for both Democratic and Republican Presidential candidates. I tend to be conservative when it comes to economic issues and liberal on social issues.

I have no idea where Trump stands on gay rights, black lives matter, pro choice, or supporting persons with disabilities. All I do know is he supports anyone that promotes “Donald Trump”. But that is not why I did not vote for him. We have had Democratic Presidents who have also had questionable moral character.

I get why people voted for Trump. We have enjoyed high returns on our stocks and low interest rates during his tenure. He is anti establishment and can be convincing to those who do not take the time to question the factual basis of his statements.

I just don’t understand why people supported a man that did not want to protect people with preexisting conditions. He has tried to strike down The Affordable Care Act, ACA, primarily because he hates anything President Obama did well, not because the ACA does not provide an affordable solution to persons without group health coverage and for those with preexisting conditions. The Affordable Care act was the first legislation that provided health coverage for working age persons with preexisting conditions who did not have coverage through their employer’s group health plan. It also allows for free wellness checks and health coverage for persons up to age 26 on their parent’s group health plan.

Trump said he would protect people with preexisting conditions when he tried to strike down the Affordable Care Act, however he never presented an alternative proposal. This caused many people to lose any thread of trust they might have had in him.

I have a preexisting condition and if I did not have group health plan coverage, my entire retirement would be wiped out if I had a recurrence and lost my job. Because of the ACA, I know my assets will be safe. We are all one lab test or doctors appointment away from having a preexisting condition.

Joe Biden won the Presidential race because Trump provided no alternative plan to the Accountable Care Act and Americans with preexisting conditions are worried about their healthcare coverage if they lose their jobs.
